Percentages for Key Stage 4

Age 14 to 16 Challenge Level:

There are four resources on this page that utilise ICT and involve perentages.

Two card matching games

In order of difficulty of the calculation are:
Matching Fractions and Percentages
Percentages and Fractions Card Game
These two games encourage mental agility and familiarity with the equivalence of fractions, decimals and percentages.

100 Percent

This game could be extended to work on any grid and with two dice and played in the classsroom on different rectangular grids. It can be used to emphasise a percentage as part of a whole and that therefore a percentage can have a different absolute value depending on the size of the whole.

The legacy

This modelling problem can be used as a whole class activity - looking at the effects of different percentage changes in ready-made spreadsheets (see the hints tab ) or as a starting point for creating models of their own.
