Why do this problem?

This activity is another opportunity for the children to work and record results logically. This problem lends itself to using a table to organise possible solutions.

Possible approach

A straightforward presentation and then when the pupils have proceeded so far then gather together and discuss what they have found to be a good idea in trying to get many solutions.
