A series of three, free professional
development days for mathematics teachers organised by the NRICH
Team in Cambridge during the academic years
2008/9, 2009/10 and 2010/11.
Aim:
To support mathematics teachers who are committed to nurturing
confident, resourceful and enthusiastic learners.
Thanks to the generous support from the Goldman Sachs
Foundation the NRICH Team are offering a free professional development
programme for mathematics teachers at maintained sector
schools/colleges in the UK.
The Teacher Inspiration programme will be delivered as three
one-day events over the course of each academic year.
The programme is aimed at teachers of mathematics at Key Stages 3,
4 and 5. The days will be highly interactive and will respond to
the issues and concerns raised by teachers.
Dates and themes:
Autumn term - Enriching resources, inspiring learners
Working with free, high quality and engaging resources to meet
the expectations of the new curriculum.
- Keynote presentation
- Workshops at KS3, KS4 and KS5
Spring term - Enriching classrooms, inspiring
learning
Encouraging questioning and discussion, building confidence,
challenging learners - these are some of the issues that concern us
all and that we shall address on the day.
- Keynote presentation
- Workshops on key themes suggested by teachers.
Summer term - Enriching networks, inspiring teachers
Leave the day ready to include problem solving in your
curriculum.
Learn from good practice and other teachers' experiences.
You can see examples of how schools set about the task of
ensuring that problem solving becomes an integral part of their
curriculum, from both the
2010 and
2011
workshops.
The Goldman Sachs Foundation has generously provided support to
enable us to offer places without charge to mathematics teachers at
maintained sector schools in the UK.
The days will link together with participants encouraged to try out
and share ideas between sessions. Participants must therefore be
able to attend all three days of the programme. Schools are
encouraged to send more than one teacher to all three days.
Please note that the Teacher
Inspiration programme for 2010/11 is now fully booked and we cannot
accept any more applications.
