Adding Fractions

I'm not sure how to add and multiply fractions together because
they are new to me, e.g.

i am having problems with adding the fractions together, my class
is not doing fractions at the moment but this is for my math club

Your second sum is exactly the way you should do the first
one... you find a common denominator. In this case, you have

Try doing the same thing that you did with
the second fraction, it also works for this one.
If you don't understand how I did this, please tell me which step
you don't understand.
