A series of three, free professional
development days for mathematics teachers organised by the
NRICH Team in Cambridge during the academic years
2008/9, 2009/10 and 2010/11.
Aim:
To support mathematics teachers who are committed to
nurturing confident, resourceful and enthusiastic
learners.
Thanks to the generous support from the Goldman Sachs
Foundation the NRICH Team are offering a free professional
development programme for mathematics teachers at maintained
sector schools/colleges in the UK.
The Teacher Inspiration programme will be delivered as three
one-day events over the course of each academic year.
The programme is aimed at teachers of mathematics at Key Stages
3, 4 and 5. The days will be highly interactive and will
respond to the issues and concerns raised by teachers.
Dates and themes:
2nd October 2009 - Enriching resources, inspiring
learners
Working with free, high quality and engaging resources to
meet the expectations of the new curriculum.
- Keynote presentation
- Workshops at KS3, KS4 and KS5
18th March 2010 - Enriching classrooms, inspiring
learning
Encouraging questioning and discussion, building confidence,
challenging learners - these are some of the issues that
concern us all and that we shall address on the day.
- Keynote presentation
- Workshops on key themes suggested by teachers.
2nd July 2010 - Enriching networks, inspiring teachers
Leave the day ready to include problem solving in your
curriculum.
Learn from good practice and other teachers' experiences.
Here are
examples from two schools.
The Goldman Sachs Foundation has generously provided
support to enable us to offer places without charge to
mathematics teachers at maintained sector schools in the
UK.
The days will link together
with participants encouraged to try out and share ideas between
sessions. Preference will therefore be given to teachers who
can attend all three days. Schools are encouraged to send more
than one teacher to all three days.
The deadline for applications is 29th June 2009. Places are
limited and an early response is encouraged.
We will contact you to confirm your place.
