Mulinello is a 'five in a line' game for two players each using five pieces of a distinctive colour. The players take turns to place one of their pieces on any vacant point on the board. When all the pieces have been placed on the board a turn consists of moving one of your pieces to an empty adjacent point along any of the marked lines. The object of the game is to be the first player to get five pieces in a line.

Here are some questions to investigate: (a) How many squares on the board? How many triangles?
(b) Can the first player always win?

This game is described in 'Board Games Round the World' by Robbie Bell and Michael Cornelius (CUP 1988) - a superb resource book for every school!
