Primary Mathematics Leaders Meetings 2014/15
Professional Development for Mathematics Leaders and Specialists in Primary Schools
NRICH is committed to supporting MaST teachers - those who are qualified and those who are in training - and Mathematics Leaders in nurturing confident, resourceful and enthusiastic teachers and learners of mathematics in their schools. We do this through a mix of conferences and online resources.
Forthcoming conference dates 2014/15
- all sessions at
London Mathematical Society
Each day stands alone and also provides a series over the year so that you can attend one or all of the days.
The focus for the series is 'Embedding the three aims of the new National Curriculum'
Leading Learning: Inspiring Learners 8
: Tuesday October 14
Spotlight on Problem Solving, Reasoning and Fluency: essential to enabling all children to become competent and confident mathematicians
This day will be an opportunity to consider how the three new National Curriculum aims can be embedded in mathematics across your school. It will draw on the content of the three Leading Learning days in 2013-14. BOOKING NOW
Leading Learning: Inspiring Learners 9:
Wednesday 26 November
Embedding Problem Solving in Number Sense
Number Sense is one of the most essential building blocks for learners and we want to support you in ensuring that they experience the three aims of the new National Curriculum within that context. Watch out for full details and booking opening in early September. Meanwhile - keep the date!
Leading Learning: Inspiring Learners 10:
Wednesday 11 March
Embedding problem solving in Geometry
Geometrical reasoning is a significant part of children's mathematical development. This day will look at how a problem-solving approach can foster such reasoining. It will also unpick what it means to be fluent in geometrical reasoning and, as always, explore lots of great NRICH problems for you to take back to school.
Leading Learning: Inspiring Learners 11:
Wednesday 10 June
Supporting children to be great at Reasoning
Reasoning is the glue in mathematics. However, we are often uncertain how to develop children's reasoning skills and their ability to communicate their reasoning clearly. This day will consdier stategies that will support children to do this and will look at how NRICH tasks can be consistently and effectively used to support progression in reasoning.
Be the first to hear....
Do join our priority email list for Mathematics Leaders and Specialists in Primary Schools. Then you will be the first to hear of new conferences as soon as we add the dates to our site and also details of new resources to support you in school.
and add your email address to sign up for the alerts and news.
Additional opporunity: Coming to a venue near you.......
We also can bring the Leadnig Learning days to your Maths Hub, Teaching School Alliance or cluster. To find out more about this contact
Meet the team
The NRICH Project aims to enrich the mathematical experiences of all learners. To support this aim, members of the NRICH team work in a wide range of capacities, including providing professional development for teachers wishing to embed rich mathematical tasks into everyday classroom practice. More information on many of our other activities can be found here.
